“Codex Dynamic” at The 2012 DUMBO Arts Festival
The 2012 DUMBO Arts Festival featured a large-scale video projection mapping installation which covered the Manhattan Bridge East Anchorage and Archway in Brooklyn. “Codex Dynamic” was curated / produced by Leo Kuelbs, John Ensor Parker and Farkas Fülöp. The exhibition was comprised of an international cast of 16 visual artists presenting single-channel videos on the interior of the Archway and showcased immersive 3D works created by Glowing Bulbs [Kiégő Izzók] + John Ensor Parker and Integrated Visions which were projected onto the entire 33,000+ sq ft surface.
The seamless imagery was achieved via the powerful realtime geometry correction and edge-blending capabilities of d3 media servers utilizing the latest in 3D mapping techniques. The projection / playback systems, which included 26 Christie Digital projectors totaling 296,000 lumens, were provided jointly by WorldStage Inc and Nationwide Video Equipment Rental.
The members of the WorldStage team who designed and executed the technical elements included: projectionists – Mark ‘Mojo’ Johnson & Juan Mateo; d3 programmer – Raul Herrera; media server techs – Alex Bright & Kimberly Dowd; AV techs – David Klueger, Shannon Robinson & Matro Parrish; audio engineer – Kate Brown; electrician – Dennis Menard; project managers – Lars Pedersen & Sarah Ibrahim. Special thanks to Nils Pormann and Luke from d3 Technologies Ltd for their invaluable expertise.
