The event took place on Manhattan’s west side at piers 54 & 57, overlooking the Husdon river. The large scale projection installation featured an 800 ft. long architectural video mapping as well as unique rear projections on water screens provided by Mirage Water Works. The content created an interplay between the two layers as a giant sized Carmelo Anthony alternately moved though the projected building structure then across the water and back again. The very important task of keeping the multi-system playback synchronized was accomplished by Northern California design company DaVinci Fusion utilizing custom built media servers. The projector package included three single Christie HD+35Ks and eight double stacked converged Barco XLM HD30Ks. Extremely long throw distances and poor weather conditions made alignment and focus a challenge, special thanks to Ryan Uzilevsky of Light Harvest Studios for his excellent work as second projectionist.
Below are some photos of the tech/production/show, some stunning footage of the water screen projections and a ‘behind the scenes’ movie.
